Always Plan Your Exit Before Pushing

Good fighters are not braver. They are safer in the second before the fight, because they already know where they can retreat to.

What an exit is

An exit is a specific place you can reach in under two seconds that blocks the enemy's view. It could be a wall, a door you just came through, a rock, or a smoke you have already thrown. "Run away" is not an exit.

Before every push, check three things

  1. Cover behind me: where do I go if my health drops?
  2. Cover beside me: which angle gives me a second option?
  3. Teammate position: who can trade the kill if I go down?

If you can answer all three, push. If not, reposition or wait for utility.

Common mistakes

  • Pushing across open ground because the enemy "looks weak."
  • Following the first kill into the next room with no cover.
  • Leaving your exit blocked by a teammate's body or vehicle.

Make it a team habit

Add a short phrase to your callouts, like "pushing, exit left." It keeps teammates aware of where you will retreat, so nobody fires into your escape path. Over time, you will find you take fewer fights but win more of them, which is exactly the point.

Drill of the day

In your next three TDM matches, before every push say your exit aloud ("exit is the left wall"). If you cannot name one, do not push.
