Shoot and Reposition

An enemy who finds you once aims at that spot. If you fire again from there, you are meeting a crosshair that is already prepared.

The basic pattern

  1. Peek and fire a short burst.
  2. Break line of sight behind cover.
  3. Reappear from a different place: a different side, height or distance.

This forces the enemy to re-find you every time, which wastes their reaction time.

When to reposition

  • After you knock someone, since their teammates now know your location.
  • After a reload or heal, because your position is predictable.
  • After you take damage from an unseen angle.

How to move well

  • Use small strafes during a fight, not one long run.
  • Mix in crouch and lean so your head is not at the same height twice.
  • Prefer moving toward cover you have already checked, not into the unknown.

Pitfalls

Do not reposition so often that you never get shots off. In close fights, a quick strafe may be enough. In long fights, relocate fully. Practise the rhythm in TDM until it feels natural, and watch your replays to see if you are still repeating the same peek.

Drill of the day

In TDM, use one rule for a full match. After every kill, or every 4 seconds of shooting, change position by at least a few steps. Count how often you die standing still.
