Privacy Policy

Last updated 24 October 2026

DropZone ("we", "us") runs this website. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the choices you have. We've written it to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

The short version

  • You can read everything on this site without giving us any personal data.
  • We only collect an email address if you sign up for the newsletter or submit a tournament.
  • We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't use tracking cookies.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time by writing to contact@example.com.

What we collect and why

Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address, the date you signed up, and your IP address at the time (kept by our email provider as proof of consent). We use it only to send the newsletter and match alerts you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Tournament submissions. The tournament details you enter (name, organiser, dates, prize pool, links) are published on the site once approved. Your contact email is never published; our moderators use it only to ask about your listing.

Technical data. When you visit, our server briefly handles your IP address to deliver pages and to stop spam (for example, limiting how many forms one address can submit per hour). This is kept in memory and discarded within an hour. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for security for a short period.

Your browser's storage. We save your theme choice (light or dark) and any "Remind me" taps in your own browser using local storage. This never leaves your device and you can clear it in your browser settings. We don't set cookies, except a short-lived one during editor sign-in for our own staff.

Legal basis

We process personal data on the basis of your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the newsletter or submission form. You can withdraw consent at any time: unsubscribe from any email, or write to us and we'll delete your submission contact details. Withdrawing doesn't affect processing that already happened.

Who we share data with

We use a few service providers who process data on our behalf, only as needed to run the site:

  • Hosting provider: serves the website.
  • GitHub: stores the site's content, including tournament submissions, in a private repository.
  • Email provider (newsletter): stores subscriber addresses and sends the newsletter.
  • Google Fonts: your browser loads our fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.

Some of these providers store data outside India. We only use providers with appropriate security measures. We'll disclose data to authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Submission contact emails: up to 12 months after the tournament ends, then deleted.
  • Spam-protection data: under one hour.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can:

  • ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • ask us to correct, complete, update or erase it;
  • withdraw your consent;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to;
  • raise a grievance with us, and if you're not satisfied with our response, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Write to contact@example.com. We'll reply within 30 days.

Children

The newsletter and tournament submissions are for people aged 18 or over. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to sign up or submit for you. If we learn we've collected a child's data without a parent's consent, we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, submission contact details are stored separately from published content, and only our moderators can access them. No system is perfectly secure, so we'll tell you and the Data Protection Board promptly if a breach affects your data.
