Ask three BGMI fans who the best team in India is and you will get four answers and one very passionate voice note. With three majors played, we have enough data to settle the argument (we will not settle the argument). Here is the season so far.
The three champions
- BGIS 2026, Chennai, ₹4 crore: iQOO SOUL with 173 points, edging Genesis Esports on 169.
- BMPS 2026, Jaipur, ₹4 crore: GodLike Esports with 162 points, ten clear of Divine Gaming.
- BMSD 2026, Hyderabad, ₹1 crore: iQOO SOUL with 155 points, 14 ahead of Gladiators Esports.
Two titles for SOUL, one for GodLike. If this were a cricket series you would call it 2-1 and ask for the tea.
The scorecard: where each team finished
Here is where the main teams finished in each Grand Finals. (Missing means they were not in that event's 16-team final.)
- iQOO SOUL: BGIS 1st, BMPS 13th, BMSD 1st
- GodLike Esports: BGIS 5th, BMPS 1st, BMSD 15th
- Genesis Esports: BGIS 2nd, BMPS 12th, BMSD 16th
- K9 Esports: BGIS 6th, BMPS missing, BMSD 4th
- iQOO 8BIT: BGIS missing, BMPS 11th, BMSD 3rd
- Team Apex Gaming: BGIS missing, BMPS 5th, BMSD 10th
- iQOO Orangutan: BGIS 3rd, BMPS 6th, BMSD missing
- Victores Sumus: BGIS 4th, BMPS 3rd, BMSD missing
- iQOO Revenant XSpark: BGIS 7th, BMPS 15th, BMSD 11th
- Nebula Esports: BGIS 10th, BMPS 10th, BMSD 14th
- Myth Official: BGIS 13th, BMPS 16th, BMSD 12th
- Welt Esports: BGIS 16th, BMPS missing, BMSD 8th
Team by team
iQOO SOUL. The only team to win twice, and also the team that finished 13th at BMPS. They are the best example of the "peaks and valleys" season. When they are on, they are the best. When they are off, they are very good at being a team that is off.
GodLike Esports. The comeback story of the year: last after Day 1 at BMPS, champions two days later. Then 15th at BMSD without a single chicken dinner. Their fans have had the full range of emotions in one year, which is great content and hard on the heart.
Genesis Esports. Runners-up at BGIS by four points and then a quieter second half. If you are looking for the season's best argument for "one more match would have changed everything," start here.
Nebula Esports. Quietly the most consistent mid-table team in the lobby: 10th, 10th, 14th. Not a headline, but if you wanted a team that never embarrassed itself in a Grand Finals, here you go.
K9 Esports and iQOO 8BIT. Both made the BMSD top four and both go to Mumbai. 8BIT added the Tournament MVP, K9 added a player (Taurus) who tied for the most finishes in the BMSD finals. They look like the teams with the most room to grow.
The player awards
- LEGIT (SOUL) was Finals MVP at both BGIS and BMSD. That is not a coincidence, it is a pattern.
- HunterZ (Genesis) was BGIS Tournament MVP after 40 finishes, the highest total of that Grand Finals.
- Shubh (8BIT) was BMSD Tournament MVP.
- Nakul (SOUL) won Best IGL at BGIS, and Areeb (Blitz Epigrotive) won it at BMSD.
The money
SOUL's two titles are worth ₹1 crore (BGIS) plus ₹30 lakh (BMSD), which is ₹1.3 crore before any individual awards, and a place on the global stage. Not bad for a year that is not over.
Settling the argument (a fictional one)
A fictional chat between two friends, Priya (new to BGMI) and Rohan (has opinions about everything). The rules and numbers are real; the banter is ours.
Rohan: SOUL are the best team in India. Two titles.
Priya: GodLike won the one with the biggest prize pool.
Rohan: And finished 15th at the next one.
Priya: SOUL finished 13th at theirs.
Rohan: ...this is why we should wait for Mumbai.
What happens next
BMIC 2026 starts on 30 October. Six Indian teams will carry the season's results with them, and ten visitors will carry none of it. Whatever happened in Chennai, Jaipur and Hyderabad, the leaderboard in Mumbai starts at zero, which is both liberating and terrifying.
