Building a Custom Layout
The default layout is designed for everyone, which means it is optimised for no one. A custom layout puts your most-used actions exactly where your thumbs already want to be.
Start with your fight sequence
Before touching a button, write the sequence you do in every fight: move, peek, scope, fire, crouch or jump, reload. Any button used mid-fight must be pressable without taking a finger off movement or aiming.
Layout principles
- Left thumb moves, right thumb aims. Extra fingers handle everything else, so a fourth or fifth finger lets you fire and aim at once.
- Keep buttons away from the screen edges that your palms or case can accidentally press.
- Size matters. Buttons you must hit blind should be larger. Rarely used ones, like grenades, can be smaller.
- Place peek or lean buttons where an index finger can tap them while your thumb stays on the stick.
- Separate emergency buttons such as heal and vehicle exit so you never press them by accident.
Save and share
Save at least two layouts. Keep layout 1 as your locked main and use layout 2 only for experiments. Copy the share code into the Settings Tracker so you can restore it after any update or phone change.
Drill of the day
Open Training Mode, enter your layout editor, and do a 5-minute test (strafe, peek, scope, crouch and jump-shoot) against a target. Move any button you miss twice.
